Gill Thompson

Hi, I’m Gill. I am an artist and printmaker living on the Isle of Lewis and working from my studio which looks out over the Minch towards the mainland. They say that if you can see the mainland mountains clearly, bad weather is on its way!

I use a variety of printmaking techniques and enjoy exploring the colours and textures of the island environment. My printmaking is inspired by the relationship between land and sea and the ever-changing light that plays on the water.

My work has been exhibited both on the island and on the mainland at a variety of galleries and features in my range of cards. I am taking part in this year’s Cowal Open Studios and my work is currently being exhibited at Talla na Mara gallery on the Isle of Harris.

I teach printmaking and mixed media workshops at Anlanntair Art Centre in Stornoway as well as in my own studio.
