Balnacra Pottery
Hi, I'm Vicky (she/they), a potter based in Lochcarron. My pottery is based in an 18th Century old Smithy building. It’s a fantastic place to work and teach in, I only need to look out of the window for inspiration. I studied ceramics in the 80’s at Edinburgh Art College, but taught myself all the practical skills.
My work is a wide and eclectic mix and reflects my diverse interests. At its root it’s about the local environment, culture and scenery. I’m excited by early history, folklore, animals, plants, colour, pattern, form. I make functional, sculptural and decorative ceramics. I use a variety of techniques; Stoneware, Raku, Earthenware, smoke-firing, wheel throwing, hand building, pinching, slab work. I enjoy teaching pottery too as it keeps me on my toes and I meet so many wonderful people. Keeping my business sustainable, accessible, ethical and inclusive is at the heart of all my activities.
I also paint, draw, create comics, illustrate, run a croft, bee-keep, grow things, do living history as a Celt and Pict, run community events. My happy place is doing all of the above, plus swimming in the loch and hanging out with my partner, dogs and poultry.

Delivery charges are per order for this seller. Items are sent via Royal Mail First Class post and UK customers should receive their items in 3 to 5 working days. International postage is via Royal Mail International Standard and will take at least 6-10 days, but it may take longer.
