Hello, my name is Ali and I live in Elphin, a tiny hamlet roughly halfway between Ullapool and Lochinver in the stunning West Highlands.

I started making dreamcatchers many years ago as gifts for family and friends, inspired by the spiritual symbolism they contain. Since moving to the Highlands in 2016 I have learned many other crafts and am continually trying out new ideas, inspired by my glorious surroundings.

Over the past few years I have started having a stall at local craft markets selling my range of hand knitted items, hand crafted soaps and shampoo, dreamcatcher kits and cards. My latest venture is into the world of free motion embroidery and I am absolutely loving creating original pieces of art using this technique.

When relaxing in the evenings, I always have some knitting on the go and again I love trying out new patterns whilst working through my huge stash of wool and yarns, which never decreases as I have a bit of an obsession which means I am physically unable to pass a wool shop without popping in to “have a browse”….which leads to sneaking more wool into the studio.

There is never a day goes by that I take my life, family, home and surroundings for granted and I truly believe that I am where I am meant to be. I have lived in many places over the years……when I moved here, this was my nineteenth move since leaving the family house in Yorkshire in my late teens……and this is the very first time that I have felt that I am living in my forever home.

The weather here means that we frequently experience four seasons in a day and I think that this ever changing environment is what generates my continual desire to try new crafts and ideas rather than focus my creativity on a specific medium.

All my items are created and packaged by me at home, using natural and recycled products wherever possible. I try to limit any unnecessary packaging but where cellophane is required to protect the item (eg soap, cards etc) it is fully home compostable.

Shipping policy

This sellers items are sent via Royal Mail 1st Class in the UK or International Standard outside the UK. Items within the UK should be received within 3-5 working days. International delivery will take longer. Delivery is per item with this seller but combined items will be posted together where possible and postage refunded accordingly.
