I am a part-time photographer with a particular interest in the cultural imprint on the landscape of the Highlands & Islands, as opposed to the concept of wild land. In my work I try to capture the sense of the place, the wonderful light and changeable weather and how that influences the landscape and the way people respond to it. I use mainly digital equipment but occasionally get out some of my film cameras, mainly using black & white film, a format that features throughout my digital work as well. In recent months I have drifted towards a more desaturated palette in response to a general trend towards the over-saturated images captured by mobile phones and commonly seen on platforms like Instagram and Facebook. I feel this palette more accurately reflects the colours of the north and the mood of the place.
I also work for a national conservation charity, managing a crofting estate, historic buildings, access and visitor facilities, and the like, and I am a board member of the Wester Ross Biosphere. I use my photography to promote both these roles and the wonderful heritage, natural and cultural, that we are so lucky to have here in the Highlands.
All my prints are created myself using a professional pigment ink printer. I can produce prints up to A3+ size on a range of media including satin, matt and gloss paper, fine art giclee, flat canvas (sorry I can’t do folded/mounted canvases) and board up to 3mm thick. I can also print panoramic prints up to 329mm deep and c. 1000mm long on satin paper. Prints will be made with a white border and my logo (bottom right corner) and packaged with a backing board to protect them. They will come wrapped in a cellophane bag. Delivery will be by Royal Mail, charged simply to cover actual cost (including packaging).
Orders are sent via Royal Mail first class and customers in the UK should receive their orders in 5-7 days. International orders will take a lot longer. Shipping costs are per order with this seller and vary depending on the size of picture ordered.
