Blackmoor Books

Hi, I am Shelley from Blackmoor Books. I am a self taught book binder and mixed media artist. I live in Jamestown just on the edge of Strathpeffer village in the Scottish Highlands with my husband and two daughters.

My love of book binding started in 2019 and I make my journal, sketchbook and notebook covers from a range of materials including my own mixed media art, commercially sourced papers, and book cloth. I often use recycled or reclaimed materials as such as vinyl or leather or even wall paper offcuts in my work as I love to reuse or recycle when I can. I have always loved books and have kept many journals over the years and now I make and use my own sketchbooks for my own creative practice as well as for developing new ideas for books. I feel bookbinding is what I was always meant to do and I enjoy every step of the process.
