Why Highland Hiddle is Opting Out of Black Friday Deals

Black Friday refers to the day after the US Thanksgiving Day and has long been regarded as the start of Christmas shopping in the US. Only in recent years has it been adopted by US retailers for their holiday sales and since 2005 it has become the busiest shopping day of the year in the US.

Of course, as with many US trends, Black Friday sales have spread across the world and it is now commonplace in the UK too, with many retailers giving significant discounts over the Black Friday period.

Unfortunately, Black Friday is detrimental to small, independent retailers who don't have the luxury of large margins and simply cannot compete with the discounts given by high street retailers. Therefore, Highland Hiddle is opting out of Black Friday discounts.

We believe the beautiful handmade products on Highland Hiddle are fairly priced for the amount of work and creative talent that goes into them.

We'd like to take the opportunity to thank all our customers who continue to support the small, independent makers of the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
