What's On at the Royal Highland Show?

The Royal Highland Show showcases the best of farming and rural life, it has developed over the years and now offers something for everyone, from competitions to shopping, live music and tasty food and drinks - it’s the one place you can meet, touch, smell, taste and take home the best in the country. Here are some highlights at this years' event:

  • Scotland's Larder - meet local producers, taste the best of Scottish produce and discover artisan offerings from across the UK. New this year is the Highland bothy where you can enjoy delicious freshly baked cakes, tea and coffee.
  • Home and Gift Hall - located on 13th Avenue in the Lowland Hall, the home and gift hall is where you will find something special, including the Highland Hiddle stand.
  • The Grand Parade - always hugely popular with the Grandstand filling up quickly, this is a very rare opportunity to see so many different breeds at one time.
  • The Forge - watch competitors go head to head in the Scottish Open Farriery Championship Horse-shoeing & Shoe-making competitions.
  • Forestry Arena - witness the astounding skill and strength of pole climbers as well as fantastic bike displays, axe throwing and forestry demonstrations.
  • Sheep Shearing - follow the excitement of the competition and be amazed at the skill and speed of the sheep shearers.
  • Show Jumping - see so many top class riders and horses in action.
  • The Countryside Area - set by its very own loch and surrounded by stunning landscaping this area features demonstrations and events showcasing a wide range of country sports and activities plus rural skills.

For those who can't get to the show it is still possible to experience much of the action because for the first time in its 200 year history you can live stream it on the small screen. Watch free-to-view RHS TV to see a dynamic mix of live and pre-recorded content broadcast throughout the four days, featuring the perfect balance of livestock judging, equestrian classes, culture, interviews, food & drink and of course, the grand parade.
