A porcelain mug with pink and blue honeycomb, bees and an iridescent sheen.
Each mug is handmade by Sarah, and decorated with underglaze watercolours. The honeycomb is carved into the mug, a technique called 'scraffito'! The mug is put through three firings, to a maximum of 1260 degrees celcius: the first firing turns the clay into ceramic and is then followed with a glaze firing. The last two firings are to add lustre - one for the bees and another for the mother of pearl which gives the iridescent finish. The whole process from start to finish takes about a week and is a true labour of love. Sarah is always excited to open the kiln and see the finished product!
Not suitable for dishwasher or microwave due to the lustres.
Size/dimensions: The mug holds 260ml and measures H8.5 x L12 x W8cm
