Showcasing Scotland’s national gemstone Smokey Quartz, this is a necklace to show your love of Scotland! The maker has contrasted the deep peaty tones of the gemstone with handcrafted sterling silver textured with fern leaves.
In the 19th century Smokey Quartz was mined in Scotland. Occurring naturally in the Cairngorm area of the Scottish Highlands, ’Cairngorm Quartz’ was a popular adornment for brooches, kilt pins and sgian dubh and the gemstone was championed by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert who named it Scotland’s national gemstone.
This necklace is a great gift choice for saying—take a deep breath, calm down and focus. Smokey Quartz is believed to aid meditation and is sometimes referred to as the ‘dream stone’.
The creative process behind the sterling silver charm for this necklace took several days. Beginning with silver clay that was cut, textured, dried, drilled and sanded. It was then fired, burning away the binder in the clay to reveal the 925-sterling silver. Finally, it was then sent to Edinburgh Assay Office for hallmarking and the necklace was completed.
Designed and created in the Isle of Skye, this pendant comes to you wrapped in tissue in a pretty organza bag along with information about the gemstones and tips on caring for your gemstone jewellery.
Size/dimensions: Pendant size 4cm x 1.5 cm. Necklace length 18 inches. Sterling silver chain.
