Lybster Glass Beads

Hi, my name is John, I live in Lybster, Caithness, but was born in North Devon and lived there for 50 years, I arrived in Caithness via Shetland where I lived for 5 years.

I started lampworking about 20 years ago after seeing a bead maker at a craft fair. I initially had about five hours basic tuition in lampworking, but I prefer to think I am self-taught. I stopped lampworking for a while, but came back to it when I moved to Shetland.

As well as making glass beads, I am co-owner of the Lybster Studio, a small craft shop selling arts and crafts from makers throughout Caithness.

My favourite glass to use is Murano Glass from Italy, but I also use small amounts of Double Helix Glass from the USA, I also use 925 sterling silver for my silver bead caps and some gold and silver leaf as part of the decoration.

All my glass beads are annealed in a kiln to ensure they are safe to wear.

All my orders are despatched by UK first class mail in packages that will easily fit through your letter box.

Shipping policy

All orders are despatched in 1-2 days and sent via Royal Mail 1st class post in the UK. International orders are sent via International Standard post and will take at least an additional 3-5 days for Europe and 6-7 days for rest of the world to arrive.
