A great gift for someone special, this labradorite silver pendant is one that the maker was tempted to keep for herself! The design was influenced by the magical spectacle of the Northern Lights in the Isle of Skye. Suspended within a textured silver oval frame, the labradorite is free to move and catch the light - meaning you get to enjoy the special optical qualities of this amazing gemstone. This pendant was crafted using silver clay. It was cut, shaped, textured and generally coaxed into life over several days and then fired. In the kiln, the binder in the clay is burned away, leaving the 925 sterling silver. The maker then buffed, tumbled and polished it before sending it to Edinburgh Assay Office for hallmarking. The final stages were with a quick dip of liver of sulphur to enhance the textures before adding the labradorite with silver wire. It hangs from a sterling silver chain and comes to you gift boxed along with information about the creative process, information on the gemstone and tips on caring for your silver jewellery.
Size/dimensions: Necklace length 22 inches. Pendant 5 x 2.8cm
